MIMIC has been around for two or three years and recently changed the line up from a 3 peice to a kick ass 4 peice. They play around Ft. Collins a lot. They are an energetic band and always play an exciting live show. They have two releases:the very crappy "Zero Cool", and the recently recorded "J's Unite".
And then all of a sudden they decided that they werent going to play pop-punk anymore. A harder, more progressive sound leeked into the old Mimic routine, and so did new influences such as The Mars Volta, The refused, and Thrice. They began experimenting with Math rock styles and, dare I say, Drop D tuning! Their sound lies somewhere between At The Drive-In, The used, The lawrence arms, and Garth Brooks. They Bring a catchy melody to Crunchy metal progressions and Angry screams to the soft undistorted undertones.
Mimic was one of the top downloaded bands for a while on a mp3 site. Mimic recently took over half of the votes at a battle of the bands at the local high school, (which they currently attend)winning first prize: a dirty shoe.
