Somewhere between Rawlins Wyoming and Salt Lake City the four members of CBA found themselves in a sticky situation. With no gas, bad O2 sensors and over 800 miles left on their journey, it seemed as though the band was doomed (to die that is:). But finally, with the vans life starting to fade, on the horizon there shined a billboard with the letters T & A. It was almost like heaven to the group, bathrooms with sticky floors, smelly Truckers, overpriced snack food and most important, gas. The vans bad O2 sensors would have to wait until CBA arrived in L.A., where at a stingy Ontario car dealership the band would drop 5 of their combined $800 to repair there beloved... well... van. This would be the start of their difficult, but impressive journey to national recognition.
Cool By Association has come a long way in its nearly four years of existence. Original members Reed Tyler, Matt DeLong and Will Robinson have built a solid foundation on which the band is certain to grow. Three albums deep in their career CBA is gearing up for its next independent release, Punk Rock Ritalin (due out in August 2003). The band has done well in the distribution of its past recordings, selling out of each one while also becoming a recognized name on the national level. This year they will be continuing to build on their ever growing national fan base at the Vans Warped Tour, an impressive feat for such a young group. But, the bands passion for their music and a desire to share it with their beloved fans is what really drives them to each one of the next levels.
With an up tempo, aggressive, melodic punk sound and an out of this world live performance the band is hard to dislike. Cool By Association offers more than the average MTV punk band by taking the genre to new places. "Were a little of this and little of that, plus our own thing," says band member Will Robinson. The band is a sure shot in the music scene with a, "do it yourself" attitude.
